More About Me
The Modern Carpenter
Our family has a long-standing history in the construction industry, with roots in the northeast region of the United States. Our journey began with a small commercial drywall company, which eventually led us to undertake larger-scale projects such as multi-floor hotels and assisted living facilities, many of which were constructed using prefab panel techniques. My personal involvement in the industry began at the age of 14, where I spent my summer holidays sweeping floors and organizing site materials and insulation. As I progressed, I pursued a certificate in AutoCAD, recognizing the importance of clear and relatable communication with the professional team. During this time, we also developed practical skills needed to build these projects and focused on organizing our workflows to be more efficient.
I decided to shift gears after 10 years of working in the family business and move to a bit more of a slower work pace but with more of a crafted and complete product. I worked in Maine with a custom cabinetry shop designing, building, and installing cabinets. We (myself and the owner) would also build two houses a year from foundations to finish. This was a very educational time for me as it allowed me to develop a whole new set of practical skills, I didn't have a chance to learn in the commercial space. Cabinetry and furniture, design and construction, allowed me to also improve my drawings, and by this time had switched to 3d modeling. In the next years, I had refined my skills practically and digitally.
Having lived and worked in Ballito, on the North Coast, now, for over 10 years, I am very entuned to the needs of our clients. If it is a pergola, a feature wall, garden gate, or even a custom piece of Woodwork. We will work together with our clients to ensure that we balance form, function, and budget, to deliver a quality job.
